  45.     KingFisher 2.1, the successor to the popular KingFisher 1.40,
  46.     a disk catalog tool originally aimed at Fred Fish's Amiga
  47.     Library collection, but now capable of a more general purpose
  48.     format, real multi-user capabilities, and a lot more.
  49.  
  50.     KingFisher began as a tool to catalog, maintain, and search
  51.     Fred Fish's AmigaLibrary disks ("Fish Disks.")  It has been
  52.     redesigned into a multi-purpose, multi-user, multi-database
  53.     cataloging tool capable of delivering detailed information on
  54.     software using Fred Fish's new Product-Info Specification.  As
  55.     such, it can be used to catalog not only the Fish Disks, but
  56.     your club's selection of software, as well, even the contents
  57.     of Aminet itself.

  59. PRE-RELEASES (KingFisher 2.0)
  60.     Pre-release versions of KingFisher 2.0 have been available
  61.     since March on Fred's FreshFish, FrozenFish, and GoldFish
  62.     CD-ROMs, but only now has the program achieved the envisioned
  63.     set of features that make a first public release feasible.
  64.  
  65. FEATURE OVERVIEW
  66.     KingFisher 2.1, the product of nearly 20 test releases over a
  67.     beta test period of three months, offers some of the following
  68.     capabilities (features marked with {*} are new or
  69.     significantly improved over the older KingFisher 1.40):
  70.  
  71.     {*} -    Fully resizable GadTools interface operating on the
  72.         default public screen; uses the default screen font
  73.         (even if proportional) for all menus, gadgets, and
  74.         displayed text.
  75.  
  76.     {*} -    Multiple copies of KingFisher 2 can operate
  77.         simultaneously, using a minimum of additional RAM
  78.         overhead through the use of Client-Server technology.
  79.  
  80.     {*} -    Multiple copies of a supplied program, RexxFisher,
  81.         provide ARexx ports at the cost of approximately 25K
  82.         per client.  This contrasts sharply with achieving the
  83.         same goal with KingFisher 1.40 where the cost was 350K
  84.         for a complete, secondary copy of KingFisher.

  86.     {*} -    Supplies any number of independently accessible
  87.         databases to multiple clients (such as KingFisher,
  88.         RexxFisher, etc.)
  89.  
  90.     {*} -    Search Sets can be built (as well as saved and
  91.         restored) to select from a list of matching software
  92.         that a previous search produced.  Matching records are
  93.         listed and can be selected for instant viewing through
  94.         a standard listview.
  95.  
  96.     {*} -    Any number of search expressions are memorized by
  97.         KingFisher 2 and can be recalled at the press of a
  98.         button to save typing.
  99.  
  100.     {*} -    The layout of information used for the display,
  101.         printing, and exporting can be re-defined to suit
  102.         individual taste or need.
  103.  
  104.     {*} -    Uses locale.library and comes supplied with Dansk,
  105.         Deutsch, Nederlands, and Suomi language catalogs.
  106.         More are expected.
  107.  
  108.         -    Context sensitive and fully integrated AmigaGuide(R)
  109.         documentation.

  111.         -    Includes a complete, ready-to-use database of
  112.         descriptions for Fish Disks 1-1000!
  113.  
  114. REQUIREMENTS
  115.     RAM requirements are less than for KingFisher 1.40 and merely
  116.     a fraction thereof when multiple copies are run: approximately
  117.     200K.  Also required is Kickstart V37 (2.04) but V38 (2.1) is
  118.     required for localization.

  120. COMPATIBILITY
  121.     Tested with 68000 through 68040 CPUs, V37, V38, V39, and V40
  122.     system software, Picasso II graphics board.  Enforcer and
  123.     Mungwall used during testing.
